Judaism is the oldest great monotheistic religion. The Ten commandments are generally considered the foundation stone of Judaism although the present form of the religion seems to have been formulated during or shortly after the return of the Jews from their Babylonian captivity. Nearly 12,000,000 Jews are scattered around the world as follows: about 1,500,000 in Israel – about 5,000,000 in the United States, and the remainder mostly in Russia and Poland.
All Jewish thought is governed by the law, doctrine and tradition – the essence of the five books of Moses. In Judaism They are known as the Torah. From The Torah came the Talmud – a vast compendium of the Jewish oral Law. The Talmud is the accepted authority of all Orthodox Jews.
The basic Dogmas of Judaism are Belief in God’s existence -timeless -unity -incorporeally – resurrection – and human immorality.
Ritualistically There are three Large Jewish sects in America: the original Orthodox – the Conservative Jews who have but slightly modified original practices – and the Reformed Jews who have adopted non-Judaic customs, and who employ considerable English in their services.
